Theadore

Welcome to Silly Saturday!

Today, I will be talking about Teddy. He is my blender. Yes, I said blender. He is named after one of my favorite presidents-Theadore Roosevelt. You see, president Roosevelt did so much good for our United States, just like this big guy does for me. I feel like the name is an honor to have for my favorite appliance.

I really only have two appliances that I have named, so I am technically not THAT crazy, right?

This bad boy though!

-The Vitamix Ascent 3500-

He is my newest and greatest kitchen love! I call him Teddy.

Did you know that it is a proven fact that if you talk to your appliances, they will work better? It’s true…and if you sing….oh boy! The endless possibilities! (please don’t reference me on that)

“Wuv, twu wuv, is wut bwings us twogether twoday…”

Seriously though… this guy can really do a lot! Vitamix makes an amazing motor for their products, and this particular model (the Ascent 3500) is able to whip up anything! It even makes piping hot and fresh soup in 6 minutes! I love the frozen dessert feature as well! All those yummy desserts and smoothies that you see on my recipe pages…those are made with this sucker!

I actually bought two different attachments for it. One, was the dry grains container, and the other was the personal 24 oz smoothie container. I literally use the personal container every day for my after-workout protein shakes, or just a breakfast smoothie. The ease is incredible!

Each container has special sensors that automatically adjust the settings according to each specific container. No need to turn the motor lower or whatever. All automated!

With the dry grains container, I am able to make my own flours! Yes, I do! I absolutely love being able to grind anything in that! I am also able to make nut butters!

All that to say….

I really love my Vitamix Blender! It makes amazingly smooth shakes and smoothies. The texture that this makes in every recipe is worth the money. I always say, “buy quality stuff, and you will not have to buy more stuff later.”

Get this piece of news…IT HAS A 10 YEAR WARRANTY!!!!

How many blenders do you buy in a ten year span? I tell ya, the warranty sold me on this!

I have a link (click the pic) here if anyone wants to buy one! Vitamix is having a free shipping event!

If you order through my links, Ill get compensated, but your price won’t change! Isn’t that great!  Win,win!

Anyways…please read my disclosure for affiliate links at the foot of this page. 🙂

Well, that’s it for my Silly Saturday post! See you next week!

My stand mixer-Wilson

Welcome to my Silly Saturday Post!

Am I writing about my stand mixer? Yes.

Did I name him? Heck yes!

Here is my stand mixer. His name is Wilson, and I love him. He’s a powerful work-horse of an appliance, and works hard for our family.

He makes delicious concoctions at least 4 times a week, and aids my poor muscles with the ability to mix “the crap” out of anything I give him to mix.

Did I mention that I love him?DSC_0013

So, You may have noticed that the poor guy has a few “bumps and bruises”. They are “battle scars” from working so hard.

The funny story is, My husband bought me this mixer used. He brought it home all excited to give me a gift (a gift he KNEW, would keep on giving…to him). He said, “babe, I have a surprise for you!” He brought it in and set it on the counter. I was like, “Oh. Thank you?” I don’t want to sound ungrateful, but little did he know that I really hate red appliances! This one was redder than a big giant….red thing (for lack of good analogy)!

OMG. Well, really, I am very thankful for this gift, and thankful for my husband who was trying to do a sweet and romantic thing for me.

Luckily, I am a DIYer and had some awesome colored copper spray paint hanging around. The color worked out for a long time, and people often complimented my “copper mixer”, but let’s just say, this mixer has seen better days. He still works great, but I feel a “repainting” coming on.

So, if you do not have a stand mixer…. You’re in luck! They are on sale right now through amazon! And guess what? If you click the link, and end buying one, I get a small (very small) commission!

So click on the ad, and buy one! You won’t regret it! (see my disclaimer on affiliate marketing below)

Have a Silly Saturday!

The “Mess” Behind Bogging

This week, as you know, I am starting to build and customize my blog. But the thing is..I have no idea what I’m doing! I really am doing a lot of research and studying on how to have a blog that people actually read.

In the process, as I am beginning to build my recipes and blog posts, I discovered that it is not as “pretty” as it is portrayed to be. I know…we always see those pretty pictures on Pinterest, featuring the perfect plate of cookies, or the perfectly lighted dinner plate, full of beautiful colors and shading.

Well friends, I am still learning the ins and outs of food photography, and how to make all of that “pretty” stuff. But, I did take some pictures this week (as I was trying to make things look perfect), of what the real kitchen looks like. The “mess” behind the scenes. And since I am all for the REAL stuff…heres a couple pics of my “mess”…

Now, that is after making my yummy Berry sauce. But THIS is whats behind the scenes. THIS. Ew.

Bad lighting, bad colors. But, Real life. Do I have the perfect kitchen, and the perfect pots, pans and dishes…Heck no!

DSC_1301

This was my kitchen after a flop recipe I did this last week. The taste was amazing…but I couldn’t get the consistency down, so I gave up. Note: my husband later ate all of the cookies…even though they were UGLY. Lol. Thank God for husbands who don’t care about “pretty”.

My counter space. Loaded. Not only with baking stuff…but Christmas wrapping stuff, and junk. This is REALITY, a lot of times.

I wish I could say my kitchen looked like this….

perfect kithcen example

I wish.

But, As I continue this blog, and post REAL and candid stuff….I Just want everyone to know what everything in the background looks like for me.

Will my kitchen look this cool someday??? I hope so (More on our home addition, coming soon!!!).

But, Until I get my perfect kitchen (knock on wood), I will be thankful for what I have and try to make the best of it!
